God Rewrote his Story
Another inspiring story. Guess who’s back? Not have he felt more energized happier, more positive and productive in life but she also been helping kids in the community. Maurice Crawley, co-founder of Dreamchasers summer mentoring Day Camp for boys & girls ages 8-18. He is proud to be back working in the community but she hadto make it through a storm that was trying to hold him back. He is a survivor of police brutality. He was assaulted strictly for recording a police stop. A black officer violated his rights. You have black officers who work alongside white officers that assault people just as well. Being a victim of a white policeman brutality is would have been easy to lay the blame onto a white policeman feet, but Maurice was treated unjustly came at the hands of a black officer. Police Brutality has plagued the black community for centuries. After the incident in 2016, Maurice has gotten up and started his comeback. So, its fine time that Maurice and Christina Mason and their staff Amanda Lewis who worked so hard each day and every week to take the program Dreamchasers with enormous potential to the height that it deserves to be at. This past summer the program welcomed many influential guest-speakers, like Mayor candidate Khalid Bey. They were honored to have officer Brandon Hanks share his story. They had career week and took kids on field trips. The program was Mon-Fri, 9am-2:30pm. Every day the kids were fed free breakfast and lunch. Maurice wants to bring change throughout Syracuse. The future is counting on Dreamchasers. Elected officials should consider providing this program the resources that are needed to work with the kids in the community. Dreamchasers deserve a pat on on the back.
